Hi guys,

Reading this thread with great interest.
I am looking for the best solution to our mobile content site. We have an excellent packaging technology that generates high end mobile content packages. Books / guides / comics etc. can all be packaged easily into jar files. We are completing an online version to allow end users to create their own content also. I have looked at Joomla before and wanted to explore using a plug-in to make it mobile ready - including device detection. I know all the components are available - but I prefer not to go through the pain of learning to put it all together myself.
Can anyone offer options? Has someone done this before and willing to assist?

Wayne:
What the link do you set for new homepage?
E.g., I set it as "index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5&Itemid=6" and see "Joomla! License Guidelines" as a homepage on emulator.

thewebnsoft:
PDA Mambot starts to work when you visit site from pda device. "Start to work" means that it changes template to pda-template and prepares some data for pda-template. Pda-template will work normally ONLY if this "some data" are prepared.
If you assign some page to pda-template, then this template are loaded directly (without necessary data preparation) and you see an error "Inconsistency between versions of pda-mambot and pda-template".

thewebnsoft:

I got the pages created and i have assigned the PDA template but when i try to access the page it give me message:
Inconsistency between versions of pda-mambot and pda-template

1. You don't need to assign any page to PDA template.
2. Seems, it is because of you go to that page directly and not through PDA mambot.

I wish to have my main template as www.website.com, and for pda users, i want it www.website.com/pda.
How is this possible?

My site has a lot of large images and multimedia such as Flash and video displayed, they just don't fit into the small screen of PDA. Is there a way to handle these better? Also My site is in UTF8 chinese, and couldn't see the text displayed correctly via PDA emulator. Is this the problem of this bot or PDA emulator?

You have two templates: the basic template of a site and a template for PDA (pda-template-2.0). Each template has positions for modules. And you can make so, that in the basic template you will have one names of positions (e.g. 'top', 'left', 'right', 'bottom' - they depend on the chosen template), and in a template for a PDA others (e.g. 'left', 'user1', 'user2' - these names can be changed in settings of pda-mambot-2.0). In the above example if the menu is placed in a position 'left' it will be shown in both templates. And if the login module is placed in a position 'right' it will be shown in the basic template only.

So, you need to assign correctly modules to positions in templates. In some cases it's easier to make a copy of the module and to place it in other position.

It's really easy!

And you can make so, that in the basic template you will have one names of positions (e.g. ‘top’, ‘left’, ‘right’, ‘bottom’ - they depend on the chosen template), and in a template for a PDA others (e.g. ‘left’, ‘user1′, ‘user2′ - these names can be changed in settings of pda-mambot-2.0). In the above example if the menu is placed in a position ‘left’ it will be shown in both templates. And if the login module is placed in a position ‘right’ it will be shown in the basic template only.

So, you need to assign correctly modules to positions in templates. In some cases it’s easier to make a copy of the module and to place it in other position.

It’s really easy!
